Find out increasingly well-nigh the current committee and their roles below. Illana Wearn Position: Chair About: I’ve been a member of the Met Walkers since July 2014 and I’ve not looked back! I love walking in the countryside and meeting new people and have got increasingly involved, rhadamanthine chair in November without two years as social secretary. I am often out walking every Saturday and shepherd most socials, mid-week walks, and can’t resist exploring new places during the weekends away. And of course, I’m often the last one in the pub! Rhiannon Green Position: Secretary About: I've been a member of MW for over 7 years and on the committee for nearly 5. I first joined to meet a new tuft of people and get outdoors. I grew up in the countryside and really missed stuff worldly-wise to walk straight out into fields and rolling hills. MW has encouraged me to explore many new places and landscapes, some as far unsuitably as Myanmar and Iceland! In my role, I send all communications out to the membership and wordplay queries from potential newbies. Get in touch if I can help with anything! Claire Hewitt Position: Membership Secretary About: As membership secretary I have been welcoming new members to the group for three years, and have been a member myself for over five. Just six months into my membership I began leading walks for the group and love an 8-12 mile ramble in the Sussex and Surrey countryside, expressly in the Oxted area. The group is a unconfined way to meet new friends and escape the big municipality for a day. Andrew Torrance Position: Walks Coordinator About:Withoutnine years in London thesping there were no hills, followed by three years in the group rekindling my love of the outdoors, I have taken on the role of Walks Coordinator. This involves putting together the programme of weekend walks, and occasionally drumming up some more. With virtually 180 weekend walks a year (and space for 250), that’s plenty to alimony up my spreadsheet skills. I can usually be found at the front of the longer walks, at least until there’s a hill, or evangelising well-nigh the joys of longer walks during midweek evening strolls. Ratul Ray Position: Weekday Walks Coordinator About: I have been a member for nearly five years, going increasingly regularly over the last three years. I started off mainly doing walks of 8-14 miles and midweek walks. I now prefer walks of virtually 15-18 miles, and as midweek walk coordinator I hope increasingly beginners wilt voracious rambling enthusiasts. I really enjoy the social side of the group, on top of exploring the four corners of London during the week and the countryside at the weekend. Other than rambling I enjoy travelling and seeing the odd band. Cheryl Bray Position: Social Secretary About: I joined the Met Walkers without moving to London hoping to see increasingly of the municipality and meet some of the people who lived in it. Four years later I have thoroughly explored London and the countryside of the southeast, been on some wondrous trips virtually the country, and have made many friends. Having got so much from the group I wanted to requite when so started volunteering to lead short walks, and increasingly recently I have joined the committee as our Social Secretary. Walking is the focus of the group, but we are a social tuft and like to meet up in the pub and do non-walking activities as well. I coordinate the social events and make sure we have an interesting social programme which complements our walks programme. Eden Jarvis Position: WeekendsYonderCoordinator Jeff Harvey Position: Publicity Officer About: I joined the Metropolitan Walkers a year ago and am a new wing to the committee, taking on the role of Publicity Officer. I am keen to increase sensation and promotion of the Met Walkers on both the Twitter and Instagram platforms and to protract the #notjustwalking motto! I completed a 100km soft-heartedness walk from London to Brighton in 2017, which my toddle is still recovering from, so I have had to curtail my personal walking with the group in recent months but am keen to get when to full fitness! Malcolm Clack Position: Campaigning About: I have been a member of Met Walkers for well-nigh five years and love to get out walking every weekend. I enjoy leading strenuous walks of 15-20 miles for the group, and plane manage to alimony my enthusiasm under tenancy and alimony to the published loftiness most of the time. Torkjel Matzow Position: Programme Publisher About: I have been a member of the Met Walkers since 2006, and joined the committee in 2011; since then I've been the Programme Publisher – putting together the PDF programme that lands in your inbox four times a year. I am most often seen on walks in the 15–20 mile subclass (and very occasionally lead them too!), or in the pub. Tom Honer Position: IT Officer About: I have been a member of Met Walkers for seven years and in 2015 joined the committee as IT officer, a role which includes managing this website. I enjoy escaping the municipality with the group to explore the trappy countryside the southeast has to offer, and have never been known to miss the pub stop at the end of the walk! Phil Whelan Position: Treasurer About:Withouttwo years in the group, I just couldn't get unbearable of my day job as an purser and joined the committee as Treasurer. I enjoy a good walking rencontre – without trekking up Kilimanjaro in 2016, I took on the plane increasingly daunting goal for 2017 of leading the unshortened North Downs Way for the Met Walkers. I enjoy leading moderate walks with a mixture of good scenery and the occasional hill! Privacy and cookies policy         Copyright © 2011-2018 Metropolitan WalkersHosted by www.ramblers-webs.org.uk.
